Duck Tales
Woo Hoo!
Good news, I found a place that would take in the duck. Bad news, they want me to try to catch him first.
The lady calmly told me to scoop him up with a large towel, put him in a box with holes and bring him to them.
Yeah, easier said then done. I severely doubt it'll be so simple as walking up to a wild animal and picking it up, especially a wounded one. My biggest fear is that someone will end up in the pond, most likely me.
The woman didn't say what would happen if we failed to capture the duck, but I suspect they won't just leave him out here.
Another challenge is when we'll attempt this feat. The shelter closes at 5pm and JR doesn't get home until 4pm. Plus I'm working late Friday and will be away this weekend. The earliest we could try is Monday and I'm afraid it'll get too cold this weekend for the poor guy.
Wish me luck ^_^*

Dude, thats lame. Cant you come resuce it over lunch hour? Also, dont you work for a news station or something? You can ask your boss to do a piece on wounded animals being rescued by civilians. That way you can get paid to resuce the duck. I think you should make time to do this now that you have told people about it, cuz if that duck dies now and I find out I'd be depressed. Give me a happy ending.
Well it may be too late anyway. The ponds froze over totally last night, and our duck is nowhere in sight. I drove around the complex looking for his hiding spot today, but no luck. I'm gonna toss out some bread before I go back to work this afternoon. Otherwise I'm not sure I can do anything at this point. Hopefully the sun will stay out and thaw some of the water and he'll come back around. If I see him before I leave Saturday I'm gonna try and grab him, even if it's by myself. If I can't get him but I see him I'm calling that place back.
As for working in news, the story just isn't that big a deal. A producer at my station also lives in our complex. She's offered to help me catch him, but not do a story. Sorry, but media isn't as big a pushover as some think.
Well????? Don't leave us hanging! What happened?
I just finished reading this post and your last, Jill. My goodness, what a situation! Poor little mangle-winged duck. I sure hope it all turned out all right.
